On Myself by Anne Finch is a one of a kind poem because it was the first we have read where the author specifically states that she is thankful for being a woman. Finch states that women are the "weaker kind" of the human race, but at the same time she knows that she is able to live off of herself and her emotions. Men cannot hope to live with their passions stuck inside their heart, and being forced to be silent, but women can and will live to any extent.
In this way, Anne Finch, and speaker for the good life of being a women, against all the injustices, can be considered the first feminist, found in the 17th century. Her poems are incrediby positive with women, but also with the larger world. She's positive and yet still very clear in her transmission of the injustices against woman kind.
